Officially the game is compatible with Windows 7 but some of the users get the following error when pressing the “Play” button
DD3D30This problem continues even after changing the compatibility mode to Windows Vista or Windows XP for the game or rebooting the system.
D3D Error – Please re-boot your system
Here is a workaround to fix this by reducing the color quaility from highest quality of True Color (32 bit) to lower quality of High Color (16 bit). Right click on Desktop >> select Screen Resolution >> Advanced settings >> Monitor tab. and change the display resolution. Else you can also reduce the desktop display resolution to 800×600 pixels as GTA 4 runs properly at this resolution. Once you are in the game, change back to original resolution.
